Research interests

In December 2013 she put forward her dissertation focusing on intellectual disabilities: prevalence, associated functional problems, and follow-up of children – now young adults – of mothers with mild intellectual disabilities. After her dissertation she initiated a collaboration with the SUF Resource Centre in Uppsala on children of parents with intellectual disability. This eventually resulted in a conference titled “Kraftsamling”, focusing on prevention and early intervention for parents with intellectual disabilities and their children. Further projects in this area of research include following up adults with intellectual disabilities and focusing on prevalence of parents in this group and their children.

Ida has been working on a school project concerning "Which students need more support in order to reach the goals of the 6th grade?" funded by the Special Needs Education Agency. Her research area focuses on examining how cognitive difficulties/ESSENCE affect the possibility of reaching school goals. Based on this research project, work is now proceeding with the National Agency for Education in reviewing the interpretation of the curriculum.

In addition, Ida has also participated in research projects concerning diabetes care for children with ESSENCE and severe diabetes.
 


Career

Ida is a psychologist and she put forward her dissertation in December 2013. She works as a private practice psychologist, primarily handling assessments and supervision at municipal and private schools. She also gives lectures (for example in specialist courses and at conferences) aimed at teachers, principals, student health employees, psychologists and other professions; these lectures primarily focus on the research areas above but also teaching and mindsets concerning children with ESSENCE.
