Profil

Helen Minnis är professor i barn- och ungdomspsykiatri vid universitetet i Glasgow. Hon arbetade som barnhemsläkare i Guatemala i början av 1990-talet och utbildade sig därefter inom psykiatri. Här väcktes hennes intresse för hur tidig vanvård påverkar barns utveckling. Hon har publicerat forskning om den roll genetik och miljö spelar för Reactive Attachment Disorder (anknytningsstörning). Hon har också publicerat det första standardiserade bedömningsverktyget inriktat på barn i skolåldern med denna funktionsnedsättning. För närvarande bedriver hon interventionsinriktad forskning om barn som utsatts för vanvård inklusive en randomiserad kontrollerad studie av en psykisk hälsotjänst för små barn som fosterhemsplacerats.
