Profile

Björn Kadesjö is a paediatrician who, up until 2000, worked in Karlstad within paediatrics, child health services and, particularly, school health services. Within these sectors he created assessment teams with two specific aims. One was to assess children and adolescents with neuropsychiatric issues and the other was to identify and support children with behavioural problems and learning difficulties in preschools and schools. While working in these sectors, Björn, supervised by Christopher Gillberg, completed his thesis on school-age children with ADHD, DCD, autism and Tourette syndrome, and also gained experiences for his book “Barn med koncentrationssvårigheter” (“Children with concentration difficulties”). Over a ten-year period Björn acted as the head of the Child Neuropsychiatry Clinic (CNC) at Queen Silvia Children's Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Gothenburg. He has been involved in the development of ”5-15”, a Nordic questionnaire for assessing children’s development and behaviour. Is part of the committee in charge of managing and developing the questionnaire further. For about ten years Björn has been working for the National Board of Health and Welfare, dealing with child-related issues. Among other things he has been responsible for a literature review on ADHD published by the National Board of Health and Welfare.
